Nacogdoches has a legitimate claim to being the oldest town in Texas, and Woodland Hills fits naturally into a community that takes its deep roots seriously. The Pineywoods region of East Texas is distinct from the rest of the state — tall loblolly pines, rolling red-clay terrain, and a humidity that reminds you this corner of Texas has more in common with Louisiana than with the Hill Country. Golf here unfolds through a landscape that actually has texture and elevation change, a genuine contrast to the flatter courses found across much of the state.
