Foxbridge Golf and Country Club sits in Uxbridge, a township in Durham Region about an hour northeast of Toronto that has quietly become one of Ontario's more interesting pockets of golf. The rolling Carolinian countryside here — drumlins, woodlots, kettle lakes, and moraines left behind by the last glacial retreat — gives course designers natural contour to work with, and the area's mix of private clubs and public layouts draws a steady stream of golfers out of the GTA.
A par 68 tells its own story before you ever set foot on the first tee. Courses built around that number lean heavily on shorter par 4s and a reduced count of par 5s, placing a premium on iron play, trajectory, and course management over raw power. The design challenge — and the pleasure — is in making a compact layout feel complete rather than abbreviated.
As a country club property, Foxbridge carries the expectations of a membership experience: maintained conditions, a sense of belonging to a specific place, and golf that rewards return visits as you learn its particular rhythms and demands.
