Stenungsund Golfklubb sits along Sweden's Bohuslän coast, a stretch of western Västra Götaland defined by glacially smoothed granite outcroppings, pine forest, and the kind of clean salt air that drifts in off the Skagerrak. Spekeröd is a quiet inland community just outside the town of Stenungsund, and the surrounding landscape — rocky ridges softened by birch and heather — gives the course a distinctly Nordic character that no amount of green-fee marketing copy could manufacture.
The club is a well-established part of the regional golf community in Västra Götaland, a county with a dense and competitive club scene anchored by larger venues in Gothenburg, roughly 40 kilometers to the south. Courses in this corridor tend to play firm and quick in summer when the ground dries, and the long Scandinavian daylight hours mean rounds well into the evening during June and July.
For visiting golfers, Stenungsund offers the unhurried pace of a genuine member club embedded in a real community — the kind of place where the landscape does the heavy lifting, and the golf feels earned rather than packaged.
