Strand sits at the eastern edge of False Bay, about 45 kilometers from Cape Town, where the Hottentots Holland mountains rise sharply behind the town and the bay opens wide toward the Cape Peninsula. It's a corner of the Western Cape that most visiting golfers pass through on their way somewhere else — which means local clubs here tend to serve their communities rather than the tourism circuit.
Greenways is a compact, accessible layout that fits the character of Strand itself: unpretentious, functional, and genuinely community-minded. It's the kind of course where juniors get their start, where club competitions run on weekends, and where a working golfer can fit in a round without half a day's commitment. The surrounding residential neighborhood and the modest scale of the facility make it clear this is everyday golf, not destination golf — and there's real value in that.
The Western Cape's notorious southeaster wind is a factor virtually anywhere in False Bay, capable of turning a simple layout into something that demands respect and local knowledge to score well on.
