Rotonda West is one of Southwest Florida's more unusual communities — a planned circular development carved out of Charlotte County in the early 1970s, originally envisioned around a wheel-spoke road system with golf as its organizing principle. Long Marsh is one of several courses woven into that layout, serving the residents who chose this quiet corner of the Gulf Coast specifically for the lifestyle that surrounds it.
The landscape here is classic Florida flatlands: saw palmetto, slash pine, and the slow-draining wetlands that give the course its name. Long Marsh almost certainly plays through or alongside those marshy areas, which in this part of the state do genuine work — catching errant shots, harboring wildlife, and reminding you that Southwest Florida's terrain has its own character even if it lacks elevation. Expect the humidity, the afternoon thunderstorms rolling in off the Gulf, and the kind of course conditions that reward local knowledge.
As a private members' club, Long Marsh is built around community rather than public profile — the kind of place where regulars know every break and the pace of play takes care of itself.
