Something of a Sacramento locals' favorite, Teal Bend occupies a stretch of ground along the American River Parkway in North Sacramento — one of the longer ribbons of urban greenway in the country. The course takes its name from the waterfowl that populate the wetlands and river corridor nearby, and that setting is very much part of the experience. Mature trees, open marsh edges, and a flat river-bottom landscape give the round a natural, unhurried feel that stands apart from the city just beyond its borders.
Teal Bend plays as a public, daily-fee course designed by Brad Bell and opened in 1997, and it earns genuine respect from the Sacramento golf community. The routing makes good use of the parkway terrain, with water features and tree-lined corridors demanding a degree of accuracy from tee to green. It plays as a full-length par 72, accessible without being a pushover.
For visitors, Sacramento sits in the Central Valley where mild winters make year-round golf realistic, and the broader metro area supports a healthy public course scene. Teal Bend stands among the better options in that mix.
