Few municipal courses in Texas carry as much history as Max Starcke Park. Named for a longtime Seguin mayor who shaped much of the city's mid-20th-century development, the course is woven into the civic fabric of this Guadalupe River town the way few public layouts anywhere manage to be. It sits within the broader Starcke Park complex, where the river and the surrounding Hill Country–adjacent terrain give the setting a character that transcends the typical muni experience.
Seguin sits in Guadalupe County between San Antonio and Austin, in a transitional zone where the Edwards Plateau starts giving way to the Coastal Plains. That geography shows up in the landscape — live oaks, pecan trees, and the kind of terrain that rewards shot-making over raw power. The Guadalupe River corridor brings moisture and shade that keep the course green and playable across much of the year.
As a public facility serving the local community, Max Starcke Park represents accessible golf at its best — a place where regulars develop real history with the layout across years of rounds, and where the scorecard's par of 71 tells you only the bare minimum about what actually awaits.
