A6 Golfklubb takes its name from the old A6 military regiment that was garrisoned in Jönköping — a piece of Swedish military history that shaped the land the course now occupies. That kind of repurposed institutional ground is a recurring thread in Swedish golf development, and A6 fits squarely within it: a club that grew out of a specific place and moment in the city's past rather than being built from scratch as a golf destination.
Jönköping sits at the southern tip of Lake Vättern, one of the largest lakes in Europe, and the surrounding landscape is classic Småland — rolling, forested, with the rocky, rooted terrain that defines golf throughout this part of Sweden. Summers bring long daylight hours that make evening rounds genuinely viable, while the shoulder seasons require some tolerance for cool, changeable weather coming off the water.
The club serves the local Jönköping golfing community in the way a well-established Swedish members' club typically does: a serious layout that rewards course knowledge, with a membership culture centered more on the game itself than on resort amenities.
