Few courses in the Finger Lakes region capture the honest, unpretentious spirit of upstate New York golf quite like this one. Victor sits in Ontario County, just east of Rochester, in a stretch of western New York where rolling glacial terrain, open farmland, and patches of hardwood forest define the landscape. The North Course at Victor Hills is a public facility with a long-standing reputation as a genuine community golf asset — the kind of place where regulars play multiple times a week and newcomers are made to feel at home quickly.
Victor itself is one of the faster-growing towns in the Rochester suburbs, but the golf here retains a grounded, workaday character that keeps the focus squarely on the game. The terrain does much of the work, offering natural elevation changes and varied lies that reward course management over raw power.
As a regulation 18-hole layout in a region with a compressed but enthusiastic golf season, the North Course draws a cross-section of players — serious competitors, weekend regulars, and beginners all finding space on the same tees.
