Buckpool Golf Club sits on the Moray Firth coastline of northeast Scotland, occupying a stretch of linksland that the fishing town of Buckie has claimed as its own since 1933. Laid out by George Smith, the course runs along the Banffshire shore with the sea a constant presence — visible, audible, and felt in every shift of wind off the firth. It is affiliated with the Golfing Union and plays as a genuine links, where turf, tide, and air pressure matter as much as club selection.
The Moray coast is one of Scotland's quieter stretches of links golf, less trafficked than St Andrews or the Ayrshire coast but no less authentic. Buckie itself is a working town shaped by its fishing heritage, and Buckpool reflects that honest, unpretentious character — a members' course that earns its keep through playability and setting rather than fanfare.
At par 70, the layout demands precision over power, rewarding those who understand how a links course uses ground game and wind to set its real examination.
