Marathon sits roughly at the midpoint of the Florida Keys, the chain of coral-and-limestone islands strung between Miami and Key West. It's a working fishing town more than a resort destination — charter boats, lobster traps, and the constant presence of the Atlantic on one side and Florida Bay on the other. Golf in the Keys has always been a modest affair, squeezed onto islands where land is precious and the saltwater wind is a permanent playing partner.
A course at this latitude means navigating conditions that no scorecard can quantify: the trade winds that shift throughout the day, the punishing subtropical humidity, and a flat terrain where subtle elevation changes in the fairways carry outsized consequences.
