Morgan Hill sits at the southern end of Silicon Valley, where the Santa Clara Valley gives way to rolling oak-studded hills and the pace of life slows noticeably from the urban sprawl to the north. Coyote Creek Golf Club occupies this transitional landscape, and the Valley Course — one of 2 distinct 18-hole tracks on the property — takes its name from the creek corridor that shapes the land beneath it. The facility as a whole was designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened in the late 1990s, establishing itself as one of the more serious golf destinations in the South Bay.
The Valley Course plays the flatter of the 2 layouts, routing through open terrain where Coyote Creek and its surrounding wetlands come into play throughout the round. Water is a persistent strategic presence rather than a punitive afterthought, and the Nicklaus design rewards players who manage their angles off the tee rather than simply overpowering the layout.
For Bay Area golfers, Coyote Creek offers a genuine alternative to the congestion and cost of courses closer to San Jose or San Francisco — a well-maintained, design-pedigreed facility that plays to a full championship test without requiring a resort destination budget.
