The desert communities of the Coachella Valley have long been a winter golf destination, drawing players west from cold climates to take advantage of sunshine and mild temperatures from November through April. Indio sits at the valley's eastern end, where the San Jacinto and Santa Rosa mountains frame the landscape and the terrain flattens into the broad agricultural and resort corridor that stretches toward the Salton Sea.
