Few regions in Europe have more thoroughly embraced resort golf than the Algarve, and the strip of coastline around Albufeira sits at its lively, sun-drenched heart. Balaia Golf Village is a well-established residential and holiday complex set among umbrella pines in the hills just east of Albufeira, and its par-3 layout has long served as the resort's approachable, low-pressure introduction to the game — a place where families, beginners, and holiday golfers can pick up clubs without the weight of a full 18-hole commitment bearing down on them.
Short courses in the Algarve carry their own particular charm: the light is sharp and clear, the pine-scented air is warm for most of the year, and even a modest layout rewards a kind of relaxed focus that a longer course rarely allows. A par-3 format also has a way of exposing the short game in ways that full rounds often conceal.
As a resort amenity rather than a destination course, Balaia's par-3 is best understood as a warm-up, a wind-down, or simply an afternoon well spent in good Algarvian weather.
