Ada sits in the Arbuckle Mountains foothills of south-central Oklahoma, a part of the state where cross-timbers oak woodland meets the rolling terrain of the Chickasaw Nation's traditional homeland. The landscape is genuinely distinctive — post oak and blackjack oak define the ridgelines, and the area carries a quieter, more rural character than the state's larger metro golf markets in Tulsa or Oklahoma City.
Oak Hills Golf and Country Club, as its name suggests, leans into exactly that setting. A private country club layout at par 72, it would have been designed to take advantage of the natural contours and tree cover that the cross-timbers region provides in abundance. Courses of this type in smaller Oklahoma cities typically developed as social anchors for the local community, and Oak Hills has the feel of a place where membership means something beyond simply having a place to play.
South-central Oklahoma's golf season runs long, with mild springs and falls bookending a hot, windy summer — conditions that reward local knowledge and course familiarity.
