Macreddin Golf Club sits within the Macreddin Village resort complex in the Vale of Avoca country of County Wicklow, one of Ireland's most quietly beautiful inland landscapes. The course occupies the wooded Aughrim River valley, where the terrain rolls through mature trees and along natural watercourses — a far cry from the windswept links that define Ireland's coastal reputation, but thoroughly Irish in its green intimacy and unpredictable weather.
County Wicklow has long punched above its weight in Irish golf, sitting just south of Dublin and offering genuine variety across its courses. The landscape here — river valleys, broadleaf woodland, and soft hill farmland — shapes how the game is played, rewarding course management and local knowledge over raw power.
As part of the Macreddin Village development, the golf course serves a resort clientele alongside the hotel and spa, making it a natural choice for a relaxed stay-and-play visit rather than a purely competitive test. The valley setting alone gives it a character that a scorecard figure simply cannot convey.
