Few clubs on the North Shore carry the history that Tedesco Country Club does. Founded in 1903, it ranks among the oldest golf institutions on Massachusetts's storied coastline, and the membership has fiercely preserved its character across more than a century. The course was designed by Donald Ross, the Scottish-born architect whose fingerprints are on so many of New England's finest tracks, and his routing through the rocky, uneven terrain of Marblehead remains largely intact — a genuine piece of early American golf history that still demands real shotmaking.
Marblehead itself sets a compelling stage. The town is one of the oldest in the country, a dense tangle of colonial architecture and granite ledge jutting into Massachusetts Bay, and Tedesco reflects that rugged, elemental quality. The land doesn't give anything away easily.
At par 70, the layout runs shorter than a championship test, but Ross courses rarely need length to punish the careless. Crowned greens, angled approaches, and tight landing areas reward precision over power — the kind of course where scoring well requires genuine golf thinking, round after round.
