New Iberia sits in the heart of Cajun country, deep in Louisiana's Teche Ridge corridor where sugarcane fields have defined the landscape and the local economy for centuries. The name Cane Row speaks directly to that agricultural heritage — the long, dense rows of sugarcane that once covered, and in many places still cover, this part of the Atchafalaya Basin region. It's a setting unlike most American golf destinations, flat and lush, shaped by bayou culture, humid subtropical weather, and a landscape that feels genuinely rooted in place.
As a golf and tennis club serving the New Iberia community, Cane Row carries the character of a local members' facility — the kind of place where regulars know each other by name and the game is played for the love of it rather than for spectacle. South Louisiana's climate means the turf stays green through much of the year, but summer rounds come with serious heat and humidity that become part of the challenge.
New Iberia itself is Iberia Parish's seat and the unofficial capital of the Cajun wetlands, home to Tabasco country nearby on Avery Island.
