La Malbaie sits at one of the most dramatic bends in the St. Lawrence River, where the Laurentian highlands drop sharply toward the water and the air carries a cool, marine edge even in the height of summer. This is Charlevoix country — a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve — and the landscape here is not subtle. Rounded mountains, river light, and the particular quality of the sky above the estuary define everything you see from an elevated fairway.
Richelieu-Tadoussac is a name that carries the history of this region in a single breath: the Richelieu a thread of Quebec's colonial past, Tadoussac the oldest trading post in North America, just across the water. A course bearing that name belongs to a place with genuine depth, and the setting alone distinguishes a round here from anything you'd find on flatter, more anonymous ground.
La Malbaie has long drawn Quebecers and Americans alike as a resort escape — Manoir Richelieu stands as the grand anchor of that tradition. A round at Richelieu-Tadoussac is best understood as golf embedded in that broader culture of place, where the scenery does as much work as the design.
