Lagunita Country Club has been the cornerstone of Caracas's private golf scene for decades, occupying a sprawling estate in El Hatillo — the leafy, upscale municipality that sits in the hills southeast of the capital. The club is one of Venezuela's most prestigious, functioning as a full-service country club where golf shares the grounds with tennis, swimming, and an active social calendar. Its membership has long drawn from Caracas's professional and diplomatic communities, making it as much a social institution as a sporting one.
El Hatillo sits at roughly 1,000 meters above sea level, which means the air is cooler and thinner than the coastal lowlands — balls carry well, and the climate is far more forgiving than Venezuela's tropical flatlands. The surrounding hills are covered in the kind of lush, semi-tropical vegetation that defines the Caracas valley's eastern ridgeline, giving the course a green, sheltered feel distinct from anything you'd find at sea level.
For visiting golfers, access is essentially closed without a member introduction, which preserves both the pace and the privacy that define the Lagunita experience.
