Golf d'Oléron

Golf d'Oléron occupies one of the more distinctive addresses in French golf — the Île d'Oléron, the largest Atlantic island on France's west coast and a place the French have long claimed as their own version of a summer sanctuary. Connected to the mainland by a toll-free bridge since 1966, Oléron draws visitors with its oyster beds, salt marshes, pine forests, and some 300 kilometers of cycling paths. The island sits within the Charente-Maritime, a department better known for Cognac country and the fortified harbor towns of Rochefort and Brouage than for championship golf.
