Pevero Golf Club

Few golf courses anywhere in the Mediterranean carry the prestige of Pevero. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and opened in 1972, it was commissioned by the Aga Khan as part of his broader development of the Costa Smeralda — the stretch of Sardinia's northeastern coast he transformed from fishing villages into one of Europe's most exclusive resort destinations. From the moment Jones was brought in, the intention was a course that matched its surroundings in glamour and ambition.

The layout occupies a dramatically rugged stretch of Sardinian granite hillside above the Gulf of Pevero, with panoramic views over turquoise water toward the Maddalena Archipelago. Jones worked with the land rather than against it, routing holes through rocky outcrops, cork oak, and macchia scrubland, producing a course that is simultaneously demanding and visually spectacular. Wind off the sea is a constant factor, reshaping the challenge depending on the day.

Pevero has long attracted a well-heeled international clientele — the yachts moored below the course are as much a part of the backdrop as the fairways — and it remains one of Italy's most celebrated resort layouts, a course where the scenery competes seriously with the golf for your attention.
