Ridgemoor Country Club carries one of the quieter but more distinguished pedigrees on Chicago's Northwest Side. Founded in 1905, the club has operated for well over a century on the same grounds in the Norwood Park neighborhood — a rarity in a city where urban development has swallowed or relocated many of its contemporaries. The course was shaped by Tom Bendelow, the Scottish-born designer responsible for dozens of early American layouts, and his fingerprints remain in the routing's classic, unhurried logic.
Chicago's golf culture is famously deep, built on a tradition of serious private clubs that reward members who learn their nuances over years rather than seasons. Ridgemoor fits that mold — a mature, tree-lined layout where the ground game matters and local knowledge pays dividends.
