Few golf clubs in Canada carry as much institutional weight as Victoria Golf Club. Founded in 1893, it ranks among the oldest golf clubs in the country and occupies a dramatic stretch of coastline on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, where fairways run hard against oceanfront bluffs and the Pacific wind is a permanent, unscheduled playing partner. The setting alone — with views across the water toward the Olympic Mountains in Washington State — gives rounds here a scale and grandeur that numbers on a scorecard simply cannot convey.
The course plays to a par 70, which reflects a design that rewards precision and course management over raw power. Several holes demand careful navigation of the natural clifftop terrain, and the wind routinely transforms apparently straightforward approaches into genuine tests of shot-making. It has long been considered one of the finest traditional layouts in British Columbia.
Victoria itself is a city with a deeply embedded golf culture, and this club sits at the heart of it — a proper members' institution where history, landscape, and the game feel genuinely inseparable.
