Dandridge sits at the edge of Douglas Lake in Jefferson County, one of the oldest towns in Tennessee and among the few in the state that chose submersion over relocation when the TVA dammed the French Broad River in the 1940s — the old town center still occasionally surfaces during drought years when the lake drops. It's a corner of East Tennessee that feels genuinely unhurried, framed by the Smoky Mountains to the south and the rolling pastoral hills of the upper Tennessee Valley in every other direction.
A Red/White naming convention almost always signals a multi-course or multi-nine operation, where different combinations of 9-hole loops get paired under color designations. That structure tends to create courses with real variety — each nine potentially routed through different terrain, offering a slightly different character depending on which combination you draw.
Jefferson County isn't a golf destination in the way Gatlinburg or Knoxville is, which often means lower traffic, more relaxed pacing, and the kind of everyday public golf that rewards regulars who know where the nuances live. Douglas Lake views, if the routing reaches them, would be worth the trip on their own.
