Gleneagles Golf Club

Few municipal courses in Greater Vancouver carry the character that Gleneagles does. Perched above Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver, the course occupies a dramatic piece of the Sea-to-Sky corridor — the same stretch of coastline and mountain terrain that frames one of the most scenically loaded drives in North America. The views across Howe Sound toward the Coast Mountains are a genuine distraction, and the layout uses the natural topography rather than fighting it.

As a municipally operated course, Gleneagles punches above its weight in terms of setting. The terrain is hilly and forested in the way that most of the North Shore tends to be — tight, wooded, and unforgiving of wayward shots — which more than compensates for the relatively modest length that comes with a par 70. This is not a course that flatters careless play.

West Vancouver itself is one of the more affluent and golf-conscious communities on the lower mainland, and Gleneagles serves as its accessible, public-facing answer to the private clubs that dominate the area's golf landscape.
