Umhlali Country Club

Few golf clubs on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast carry as much history as Umhlali Country Club. Founded in the early 20th century, the club predates the resort boom that would eventually transform this stretch of coastline, and it retains the unhurried, members-first character of a traditional country club. The layout was shaped by the natural contours of the subtropical hinterland — rolling sugarcane country giving way to indigenous bush — and that sense of organic fit between golf course and landscape is still its most compelling quality.
