Par-62 courses are sometimes dismissed before a player even tees it up, but a round at Yosemite Lakes Park GC has a way of reframing that assumption. Executive-length layouts in the Sierra Nevada foothills demand precision over power, and the surrounding terrain — oak-studded hillsides, granite outcroppings, and the dry golden grasses of California's interior — has a rugged beauty that keeps the eyes as busy as the scorecard.
Yosemite Lakes Park is a private residential community in Mariposa County, roughly an hour from the valley floor of Yosemite National Park itself. That proximity to one of the most dramatic landscapes on earth gives the whole area an outsized sense of place. The air is cleaner and the pace slower than the Central Valley below, and the golf course feels very much a part of that unhurried atmosphere.
For residents and guests, this is neighborhood golf in the best sense — walkable, approachable, and tied to a community rather than a destination itinerary. Scoring opportunities are real, but the foothills setting makes it worth the drive on its own terms.
