Few clubs in American golf carry the weight of expectation that Lake Nona does. Tom Fazio's 1986 design quickly established itself among the finest private clubs in the country, earning consistent placement on national top-100 lists and becoming one of Florida's most celebrated layouts. What began as the centerpiece of a master-planned community southeast of Orlando has evolved into something considerably more significant — a gathering place for golf royalty, with a membership roster that has historically included more touring professionals than almost any club in the world.
That concentration of elite players is no accident. The course demands precision and rewards course management over brute force, with Fazio's characteristic shaping creating fairways that funnel the eye while punishing the careless shot. Water comes into play on a majority of holes — this is Central Florida, after all — but never feels gratuitous.
Orlando's year-round sunshine and subtropical climate make Lake Nona a perennial retreat for players who take the game seriously. The surrounding community has grown into a hub for sports science and performance, which only deepens the sense that serious golf lives here.
