Rochford Hundred is one of Essex's oldest golf clubs, its roots reaching back to 1893 — a heritage that puts it in the company of England's Victorian-era founding clubs. The club takes its name from the historic Rochford Hundred, the ancient administrative district of south Essex that once governed this stretch of land between the estuary and the River Crouch. Southend-on-Sea sits within striking distance, giving the club an urban catchment, but the course itself feels removed from the seafront bustle — an unhurried, traditional Essex parkland round on ground that has been played since the reign of Queen Victoria.
