San Antonio has long punched above its weight in Texas golf, and Woodlake Golf Club has been part of that story for decades. The club sits within the Woodlake neighborhood on the city's northwest side, a mature residential development where tree-lined fairways and established landscaping give the course a settled, unhurried character that newer layouts in the region rarely achieve. It reads as a course that has been played in, adjusted to, and genuinely lived with by the members and daily-fee golfers who have made it a regular stop.
The broader San Antonio golf scene benefits from the city's mild climate, which keeps courses playable through much of the year — a real advantage when compared to other parts of Texas where summer heat becomes oppressive. The Hill Country is close enough to feel in the topography, though the course itself reflects the flatter, more open terrain typical of the city proper.
Woodlake plays as a comfortable, community-rooted 18-hole layout — the kind of place where regulars know each other by name and newcomers are generally made to feel welcome without ceremony.
