Few Florida golf clubs carry the civic weight of Dunedin Golf Club. Founded in 1927, it is one of the oldest courses on the Pinellas County peninsula and has long served as the town's golfing heartbeat — a place where generations of locals have played their weekend rounds and juniors have taken their first swings. Dunedin itself is a small, Scottish-settled city on the Gulf Coast, and the club's name reflects that heritage: the city takes its name from the Scottish Gaelic for Edinburgh.
The layout sits in the classic Florida tradition of flat, open parkland golf, where Bermuda fairways and subtropical landscaping define the experience rather than dramatic elevation change. The Gulf's moderating influence keeps conditions playable through much of the year, though summer heat and afternoon thunderstorms are facts of life for anyone teeing it up in the region.
As a traditional members' club embedded in a tight-knit community, Dunedin Golf Club offers something increasingly rare in the Tampa Bay area — a genuine sense of local golf culture, unhurried and unpretentious, rooted in a town that actually likes being small.
