Few private clubs in Toronto carry the quiet prestige of Donalda. Founded in 1967 and designed by C.E. Robinson, the club was conceived as a distinctly member-focused retreat — less about tournament grandeur than the quality of everyday golf and community. It occupies a compelling stretch of the Don River valley, where the land breaks into natural ravines that Robinson used to create genuine strategic interest and a sense of seclusion that's remarkable given how thoroughly suburban Don Mills has become in the decades since.
The course plays to a par of 71, and that asymmetry hints at its character — this isn't a layout built to impress on paper. The ravine holes demand real course management, with forced carries and elevation changes that reward thoughtful play over raw power. It's the kind of course that reveals itself slowly, becoming more interesting the better you know it.
Don Mills sits in the northeast of Toronto proper, and Donalda represents exactly the kind of serious, understated members' club the city's private golf scene is quietly full of — places where the golf earns loyalty round by round rather than through reputation alone.
