Dubois sits in the upper Wind River Valley, a high-desert community in western Wyoming where the Absaroka and Wind River ranges converge in dramatic fashion. At roughly 6,900 feet of elevation, the air is thin enough that shots carry noticeably farther than a player accustomed to sea-level courses might expect — a pleasant surprise that plays well against the region's often-present wind. The landscape is defined by sage flats, eroded badlands, and the ochre bluffs that give Dubois its distinctive, almost otherworldly look.
Antelope Hills takes its name from the pronghorn that genuinely do graze this part of Wyoming, and the course reflects the honest, unpretentious character of the town itself. This is mountain-west golf rooted in its surroundings rather than imposed upon them — the kind of layout where the scenery does real work, and where a mid-week round among locals carries its own quiet appeal.
Dubois is a long drive from any major city, which keeps Antelope Hills the domain of residents, travelers passing through on US-26, and visitors drawn to nearby wilderness and the Absaroka backcountry.
