Pinehurst No. 10

Few places in American golf carry the weight of Pinehurst, and the newest course on the Resort's grounds arrives with both that legacy and a genuinely fresh vision. No. 10 opened in 2023, designed by Tom Doak, and represents a deliberate departure from Donald Ross's fingerprints that dominate the rest of the property. Doak routed the course through longleaf pine forest and sandy terrain that feels wilder and less manicured than its siblings — closer in spirit to the sandhills as they were before golf arrived than to the groomed parkland the resort is famous for.

The design philosophy leans minimalist, as Doak's work typically does: movement in the land is preserved rather than manufactured, and the sandy waste areas and native vegetation do much of the work that architectural features might elsewhere. It rewards players who pay attention to the ground game.

Pinehurst itself remains one of the game's great pilgrimage destinations — host to multiple U.S. Opens, U.S. Amateurs, and Ryder Cup Cups — and No. 10 adds a compelling new reason to extend a trip to Moore County well beyond the famous No. 2.
