Saadiyat Island Golf Course

Gary Player designed this course, which opened in 2010 on Saadiyat Island — the ambitious cultural district that Abu Dhabi developed to house the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Guggenheim, and the Zayed National Museum. That context matters: this is a course built where world-class architecture meets the Arabian Gulf, and the design reflects that ambition. Player routed 18 holes through a landscape of natural coastal dunes, saltwater lakes, and indigenous ghaf trees, producing a layout that feels genuinely shaped by its terrain rather than imposed upon it. The holes along the shoreline offer views across open water that are difficult to find anywhere else in Gulf golf.

Playing conditions here are defined by Abu Dhabi's climate — winter months bring ideal temperatures and cooling sea breezes, while summer demands serious heat management. The course sits minutes from the main island but feels removed from the city's density.

Saadiyat belongs to the upper tier of UAE resort golf, drawing visitors staying on an island that has grown into one of the region's most deliberate cultural destinations.
