Rotonda West is one of Southwest Florida's most distinctive residential communities — a planned circular development built in the early 1970s around a series of canals, lakes, and golf corridors on the Charlotte Harbor coast. The Palms is one of several courses woven into that layout, where golf isn't an amenity bolted onto a neighborhood but something the whole community was literally designed around. Expect flat, open terrain typical of this stretch between Sarasota and Fort Myers, with water hazards playing a genuine role on most holes and the subtropical sky feeling enormous overhead.
The landscape here is quintessential Gulf Coast Florida: cabbage palms, slash pines, the occasional great blue heron working the canal edges, and afternoon thunderstorms that roll in fast off the water from June through September. The warm climate means the course plays year-round, and winter snowbirds from the Midwest and Northeast fill the tee sheets from December through April.
