Arthur Hills designed Windsor Parke in the early 1990s, carving the layout through the dense hardwood hammocks and wetlands of Jacksonville's Southside. Hills was a master of working with natural terrain, and here he let the mature oaks, magnolias, and marshland do much of the heavy lifting — the course has a wooded, almost enclosed feel unusual for Florida, where open resort designs tend to dominate. Several holes demand precise shot-shaping around tree corridors, and the wetland carries are unforgiving for anyone who loses focus.
The Southside corridor of Jacksonville has grown considerably since Windsor Parke opened, but the course has held its character as a well-regarded semi-private club in a market that includes some genuinely strong competition. It plays to a challenge that rewards local knowledge — understanding the wind patterns through the tree gaps and the firmness of its Bermudagrass surfaces matters more than raw power.
Northeast Florida golf benefits from a long season, with mild winters and manageable summers making Windsor Parke a year-round destination for Jacksonville's serious golf community.
