Ral Al Hamra 9 hole PDO Golf Club

The PDO Golf Club — operated by Petroleum Development Oman — sits within the walled residential compound of Ras Al Hamra on Muscat's northern coast, where the Gulf of Oman meets a dramatic headland of pale limestone cliffs. It is one of Oman's oldest and most storied clubs, a product of the expatriate oil community that took root here in the 1970s, and for decades it served as a social and sporting anchor for PDO staff and their families. The setting is genuinely striking: the course occupies a compact coastal plot where the terrain drops toward the water and the air carries a persistent sea breeze that can quietly rearrange a round.

The 9-hole layout is maintained to a respectable standard for the Gulf region, with its "browns" — compacted, oiled sand greens — rather than grass, which is a practical and traditional choice across Oman's desert-climate courses. Players typically complete 18 holes by playing the loop twice.
