Bedford Valley has a legitimate place in Michigan golf history. The course was designed by Bill Diddel, a prolific Midwestern architect who shaped dozens of layouts across the Great Lakes region in the mid-20th century, and the property has long carried a reputation as one of the more serious tests in southwest Michigan. The routing moves through mature hardwoods and gentle valley terrain, giving the round a natural, unhurried rhythm that many modern courses engineer but rarely achieve organically.
Battle Creek sits in Calhoun County, where the land flattens into the broad agricultural plain between Kalamazoo and Jackson. Golf here tends to reward patience and shot placement over raw power — the tree-lined corridors and subtle ground movement demand honesty from every club in the bag. The surrounding region has a quiet, working-Midwest character that carries over onto the course itself.
