Few mountain courses in Canada carry the reputation Stewart Creek does. Designed by Gary Browning and opened in 2000, it occupies a dramatic stretch of the Three Sisters Mountain Village development on the eastern slopes of the Canadian Rockies, with the jagged peaks of the Three Sisters looming directly over play. The routing makes full use of elevation change, forested sidehill lies, and creek crossings, and the course has earned consistent recognition among Canada's best — a legitimate destination layout that happens to sit behind a private gate.
Canmore itself sits just outside Banff National Park, a town that has evolved from a coal-mining past into one of Alberta's most desirable mountain communities. The golf season is compressed by altitude and climate, which only seems to sharpen the appreciation members bring to every round.
As a private members' club, Stewart Creek rewards those with connections to get on. The mountain air, the wildlife sightings, and the sheer visual drama of the setting make it one of the more memorable rounds available anywhere in the Rockies.
