Phoenix's South Mountain Park forms the backdrop here — one of the largest municipal parks in the country, a rugged expanse of Sonoran Desert that rises sharply from the valley floor. Arizona Grand sits at the base of that preserve, which means the terrain is genuine desert rather than the groomed, palm-lined corridors common to resort corridors further north. That resort context shapes the experience: the facilities are polished, the pace is deliberate, and the layout is built to be enjoyed rather than purely to test. The par-71 configuration suggests at least a couple of par-5s were traded out, which typically tips a design toward playability and variety over raw length.
South Phoenix doesn't carry the marquee name of Scottsdale's golf corridor, but that also means less traffic, more honest pricing, and a landscape that feels legitimately wild just beyond the fairway edges.
