Knollwood Country Club has long served as one of the anchors of the private golf community in the South Bend metropolitan area, offering its members a retreat from the rhythms of everyday life in northern Indiana. The East Course, one of 2 distinct 18-hole layouts on the property, gives the club a breadth of experience unusual even among well-established private facilities — members have genuine variety without ever leaving familiar ground.
Granger sits in St. Joseph County, just north of South Bend, in the glacially flattened terrain that defines this corner of the Midwest. The landscape is characteristically open, with mature hardwoods providing much of the visual and strategic framing that rolling topography might offer elsewhere. Autumn play here, when those trees turn, is a genuinely different experience than summer rounds.
As a private members' club, Knollwood fosters the kind of unhurried, relationship-centered golf that public access rarely allows — regular competitions, established handicap cultures, and the particular comfort of playing a course you know hole by hole across every season.
