Trehøje Golf

Trehøje Golf takes its name from the three ancient burial mounds — trehøje means "three mounds" — that sit within the course's boundaries, remnants of Bronze Age settlement in this part of Jutland. That kind of deep-rooted connection to the land is characteristic of the Herning area, where heath and farmland roll across the Jutland ridge in quiet, understated waves. The course itself opens through a landscape typical of Central Jutland: wide skies, a mix of heathland and wooded stretches, and the kind of honest, unhurried atmosphere that defines golf in this region.

Vildbjerg is a small town roughly 10 kilometres west of Herning, and Trehøje sits within easy reach of the industrial heartland of mid-Jutland — meaning its membership draws largely from the surrounding towns rather than from tourist traffic. This is a club-golfer's course in the best sense: a place where local knowledge matters and the regulars know every bounce.

Jutland's prevailing westerly winds come off the North Sea with real conviction, and on an exposed layout like this, they do more to test a round than almost anything the design can manufacture. Expect conditions to shift and the course to play very differently depending on the day.
