Cadillac sits at the heart of northern Michigan's lake country, a region that punches well above its weight as a golf destination. The area around Lakes Cadillac and Mitchell draws players from across the Midwest, and the surrounding terrain — wooded hills, wetlands, and sandy glacial soils left behind by the last ice age — creates the kind of natural scaffolding that makes golf courses here feel rooted in their landscape rather than imposed on it.
Wedgewood GC offers an 18-hole experience in this well-established golf corridor, where the competition for a player's attention is real and the local standard is reasonably high. Courses in this part of Wexford County tend to reward accuracy and course management over raw power, as tree lines and water features have a way of tightening up what might otherwise look like open fairways.
Northern Michigan golf runs roughly May through October, with the shoulder seasons offering quieter rounds and the vivid color of a hardwood forest in full autumn display — arguably the best time to play anywhere in the state.
