Zhuhai occupies one of the more striking stretches of the Pearl River Delta coast — a subtropical city of islands, bays, and granite headlands where Guangdong Province meets the South China Sea, just across the border from Macau. The climate runs warm and humid through most of the year, with lush vegetation that keeps courses intensely green but demands a certain resilience from both turf and player. Golf arrived here alongside Zhuhai's rapid development in the 1990s, when Special Economic Zone status transformed the city and brought resort and real estate projects — golf courses among them — to its hillsides and shoreline.
东方高尔夫, or Oriental Golf, fits into that broader wave of Zhuhai courses built to serve a growing regional appetite for the game, drawing players from the wider Pearl River Delta, Macau, and Hong Kong. This part of Guangdong has assembled a surprisingly dense collection of layouts over the past 3 decades, giving local golfers genuine variety within easy reach.
For visitors, Zhuhai's appeal extends well beyond the round itself. The city's relative calm compared to Guangzhou or Shenzhen, its ferry connections to Hong Kong, and the proximity to Macau's hospitality infrastructure make it a natural stop for anyone combining golf with broader travel through this corner of southern China.
