Few courses in American golf carry the weight that Quail Hollow Club does. Founded in 1959 and designed by George Cobb, the Charlotte layout has been refined over the decades — most notably by Tom Fazio, who reshaped it into one of the most respected private clubs in the Southeast. It earned a place on Golf Digest's list of America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses and has become synonymous with big-time professional golf in the Carolinas.
The Wells Fargo Championship has called Quail Hollow home for years, producing memorable finishes and showcasing the course's teeth to a national television audience. The closing stretch — holes 16 through 18, collectively known as "The Green Mile" — is among the most demanding finishes on the PGA Tour, a gauntlet of water and pressure that has ended many a Sunday charge. Quail Hollow also hosted the 2017 PGA Championship, where Justin Thomas claimed the Wanamaker Trophy.
