Few golf experiences in New Zealand stop traffic quite like this one. The Lake Taupō Hole in One Challenge is a single-hole attraction set on the foreshore of Lake Taupō, where golfers tee off across open water toward a floating green anchored in the lake. It is one of the most visually dramatic and genuinely unusual golf setups in the Southern Hemisphere — the kind of thing that sounds gimmicky until you're standing on the tee with a full expanse of lake stretching ahead of you and the snow-capped volcanic cone of Mt Ruapehu visible on the horizon.

Taupō sits at the heart of the North Island, and Lake Taupō itself is the crater of a supervolcano — the largest lake in New Zealand and one of the clearest in the world. The town has long been a hub for adventure tourism, and this floating green fits that spirit perfectly.
