Miami Shores Country Club sits in one of Greater Miami's most architecturally distinctive neighborhoods — a planned village of 1920s and 1930s Mediterranean Revival homes that managed to survive the boom-bust cycles and hurricanes that reshaped so much of South Florida. The club is very much part of that civic identity, a private retreat that has served the community since the interwar era when Miami Shores itself was being carved out of the limestone flatlands north of the city.
South Florida golf presents its own set of challenges: the heat and humidity that build through summer, afternoon thunderstorms that can end a round in minutes, and the kind of lush Bermuda turf that rewards a clean strike and punishes anything less. Flat terrain is the norm this close to sea level, which puts a premium on course design to generate interest — bunkering, water, and strategic shaping doing work that topography cannot.
As a members-only club, Miami Shores operates with the unhurried rhythms of a private facility: a place where regulars know every bounce and break, and where the course rewards the kind of familiarity that only comes with time.
