Diablo Country Club's Championship Course sits at the foot of Mount Diablo, one of the Bay Area's most visually commanding landmarks. The club itself is one of the oldest and most storied in Northern California, dating to the early 20th century, and the course reflects the kind of mature, tree-lined character that only decades of growth can produce. Fairways move through native oaks and established landscape, with the mountain providing an ever-present backdrop that orients you on every hole.
The Diablo area occupies a quiet pocket of Contra Costa County, removed from the suburban sprawl of Walnut Creek and Concord yet close enough to draw from the Bay Area's deep golf culture. The terrain here is gently rolling at the valley floor but rises toward rugged, sun-baked hillsides — conditions that can make club selection tricky when the afternoon winds pick up off the mountain.
As a private members' club, Diablo carries that particular sense of continuity and quiet pride you find in courses where the same families have played for generations. Access is limited, but for those who know it, the Championship Course represents a genuinely personal relationship between a community and its land.
